Lent

Its been a very long time since I posted something. I've been trying to focus on school, but I thought this season would be a great time for me to post something.
"Lent stimulates us to let the Word of God penetrate our life and in this way to know the fundamental truth: who we are, where we come from, where we must go, what path we must take in life..." -- Pope Benedict XV. This is a season when we need to refelct on our lives. What hinders us from being a complete follower of Jesus . There can be a million different things. Mabye your attached to some worldly thimg, or mabye we're not allowing  ourselves to forgive someone. As we were reminded on ash wensday we are dust and unto dust we shall return. What we do in this life will decide our eternity.
During lent we give up something we are attached to or mabye we do something like praying to get closer to God. When I was younger I would pick random things to give up and that would be it, but we should ponder and ask ourselfs what we really need to give up that will help in the long run. We should give up or do something that will help us get to heaven.

Confession

Confession the sacrament where all our sins are forgiven. We go to confession with all our sins and come out all clean. It's not always easy to go to confession. Sometimes we can be afraid to go. Its not easy to go to confession for all of us. But really there is nothing to be afraid of the. The priest can not tell our sins to anyone. I always feel better after confession. We I sin especially a mortal sin I feel like something is missing. I feel empty inside. Then, when I go to confession the emptiness is gone. I feel good again. After confession we can know are sins are forgiven. We dont have to worry about whether our sins are forgiven or not. That's one great thing about Catholic. We have all the sacraments that gives us grace.

Using appropriate language

Ephesians 5:4 "and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks."

I think cussing and inappropriate jokes have become common in today's world. It's very uncommon to find people who don't cuss. Swearing is just as bad. The Bible tells us not to swear. Paul tells us that there should be no filthy talk among us. A lot of people say that cuss words are not much different from other words. It depends on the context in which you use the words. If your purpose is to be inappropriate or be mean then its wrong. We should try to eliminate cussing all together. It has become a habit for someone people that will take time to break. If we ask God to help us he will. When people say they swear to God it drives me crazy. The bible says let your yes be yes or your no be no. There is no need to swear to God. Swearing to God does not accomplish anything more than you saying yes. The only things that happens is you disobey what God says. Another thing is inappropriate jokes. When Im with guys at my school, I am constantly hearing inappropriate jokes. A lot of times I'm guilty of not saying anything, but we should be brave enough to say something when we hear people making inappropriate jokes. We need to respect every person and treat them as God's creation.

New School

I have started my new school. It is a lot bigger and a lot more people. I am in the process of making new friends.  The only difference from my old school is, there is no religion class since it is a public school. I do miss the Christian foundation of my other school. There is a lot of inappropriate conversations between my class mates. It makes me feel uncomfortable. Their are some other Catholics in my class which is good. This first week of school is going good
Besides the inappropriate conversation.

Why is their evil?

We all ask the question "Why does God allow so many evil things to happen. When a travesty happens sometimes we want to blame God. We tell ourselves if only God did something that wouldn't have happened. The reality is when something bad happens God is sad to. God is sad with us. God does not make people do an evil act. God does not tempt people to do evil acts. When God created us he gave us free will. The people who do evil acts are the ones to blame. God will not over power our free will. Love has to be free to be love. We have to choose to love God. God doesn't make us love him. We have the ability to do good and evil , to love or not to love. Some people abuse their free will to do evil. The good thing is God can bring the greatest good out of the most evil acts. God loves all his creation, and wants the best for them. When one of his creatures commits a evil act God heart breaks. But somehow God will bring good out of it. If something bad happened to you or someone did some evil in your family, we have to forgive them. It is part of being a Christan to forgive. It's sounds so simple but yet so hard. When we forgive it sets us free to. If we don't forgive it weighs us down, and and only hurts us. Sometimes it takes much prayer and time to forgive, but through the grace of God we will be able to do it.

We are stronger

1 John 4-6 "You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error."
Its hard in today's world  to be a Christian. It feels as if we are alone. Being a Christian means being different from other people. It means living a different like style then the world tells us to live. It means standing up for God when your friends talk bad about him. Being a Christian means being a follower of Christ. There is nothing better than living for him. No matter what our persecution might be, if we preserve to the end and die in God's grace we will be with him. Our choices we make will determine our final everlasting destiny. Once we die our eternity is set, and there is no changing it. The choices we make now are very important. We can choose to live for the world or live for God. Living for God is much more rewarding than living for the world.
It's not easy living like a Christan. A lot of the people try living two life styles. You act Christian with you Christian friends,  but with other friends you don't act like a Christian. We can't live two life styles we have to choose one or the other. Revelations 3:15 ‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth."  We can not serve the the world and God. I know its a lot easier said than done but we can do it with God's grace. The spirit we have is greater than the one in the world. Also remember God always forgives our sins. There is no sin that God wont forgive. If your a Catholic teen you should join your youth group. That has helped me a lot. If your having trouble talk to your priest. If you have any questions or anything just send me email. I pray that everyone and every teen everywhere come to know God and live a life worthy to him.
